What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Entrepreneurship position at Bullis School?

Bullis School seeks a dynamic, visionary Director of Entrepreneurship to lead and advance its K–12 Entrepreneurship Program, beginning July 1, 2026. This 12-month, full-time position serves as the program's strategic and instructional leader, reporting to the Associate Head of School. The Director also chairs the Upper School Entrepreneurship Department and teaches up to three courses annually, and supports co-curricular initiatives such as Business Club, DECA, and related student-led ventures. This role is ideal for an educator and innovator who is passionate about experiential learning and committed to expanding opportunities for students to engage in authentic, purpose-driven work.

Qualifications:

Essential Functions

Curriculum and Instruction

  • Collaborates with key instructional staff to develop and coordinate entrepreneurship skill and content integration into curriculum and work towards K-12 horizontal/vertical curriculum alignment and connection across divisions
  • Researches and analyzes current best practices in entrepreneurship education; facilitates their integration into the Bullis Entrepreneurship program; makes student applications of K-12 Entrepreneurship skills visible to the community
  • Reviews and advises course offerings to ensure that current topics in entrepreneurship are addressed and they teach, reinforce, and apply entrepreneurship skills
  • Participates as a member of the Signature Program team to collaborate on joint projects and to continue overall development of the Signature Programs
  • Supports divisions and staff in the implementation of common pedagogy for all entrepreneurship activities
  • Directs and facilitates the integration of entrepreneurship with the other disciplines
  • Assembles, develops and oversees a team of entrepreneurship mentors to support the 12th grade entrepreneurship capstone students
  • Facilitates K-12 experiential programs and activities and performs related duties as a member of the 12th grade Capstone Team
  • Teaches up to 3 classes across the divisions per academic year including the 12th grade Entrepreneurship Capstone

Administration of the Entrepreneurship Program 

  • Manages budgets and resources related to the K-12 Entrepreneurship program to ensure effective implementation of all components of the program 
  • Plans, manages and oversees the 12th grade Shark Tank as part of the Signature Symposium Day

Student Advising and Experience

  • Monitors the growth of the K-12 Entrepreneurship Program to foster diverse and inclusive practices in entrepreneurship activities
  • Advises and monitors upper school students with course and activity selection related to Entrepreneurship Signature Program pathway, internship opportunities and other enrichment activities
  • Facilitates entrepreneurship activities and clubs and oversees their management

Partnership with Families and Community

  • Communicates to staff, parents, students, alumni and community members a systemic approach that models’ teamwork, encourages collegiality, and supports collaboration
  • Explores and develops partnerships with outside agencies, universities, organizations, parents and other partners to establish a resource base that promotes entrepreneurship initiatives
  • Makes connections with other independent schools and resources to assist teachers in providing instruction to support students
  • Promotes and represents the Bullis entrepreneurship program at conferences, workshops and other professional development opportunities.

Professional Development, Grants and Institutional Research

  • Facilitates professional development opportunities based on best practices and relevant themes for all entrepreneurship and other content area teachers
  • Solicits outside funding sources, including writing and submitting appropriate entrepreneurship-related grant opportunities
  • Collaborates with instructional staff to participate in research and/or school renewal activities

Entrepreneurship Department Chair

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the department
  • Directly oversees teachers and classroom practices
    • Monitors, with school administrators, quality of instruction in departmental courses
    • Coaches departmental teachers to use best practices and improve the quality of classroom instruction
    • Observe and evaluate departmental teachers formally and on a continual basis
    • Recommend and coordinate professional development opportunities for department members
  • Chairs department meetings
  • Oversees department comment writing and proofreading for interims, progress reports, and report cards
  • Collaborates with Assistant Head of Upper School for academics each spring and throughout the summer to ensure accurate sectioning and teacher assignments
  • Works with school administrators to assign courses and classrooms
  • Teams with Head of Upper School and Dean of Faculty to review resumes and interview candidates for faculty positions
  • Teams with Head of Upper School and human resources in arranging coverage for short-notice teacher absences 
  • Reviews grades and comments at each marking period, ensuring departmental consistency
  • Oversees student placement
  • Assists in problem-solving when conflicts among teachers and parents/students arise

 

Other Duties

  • Additional duties as assigned by the Associate Head of School for Teaching & Learning 
  • Participates on committees and special projects and performs additional duties as assigned by the Head of School

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business, International Affairs, Accounting, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience teaching business, finance, or entrepreneurship
  • Demonstrated leadership, flexibility and creativity in program development

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business, International Affairs, Accounting, or related field
  • Teaching certificates 
  • Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment

 

Compensation and benefits are competitive, with an anticipated salary range of $90,000 to $115,000.
