Key Responsibilities
- Product Development & Formulation
- Develop and refine new food product formulations based on market trends, customer needs, and business objectives.
- Identify and evaluate suppliers for sourcing high-quality ingredients that meet functional and cost requirements.
- Conduct benchtop iterations to optimize taste, texture, and functionality.
- Organize and lead internal and external sensory panels to gather feedback and improve formulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, quality, and procurement, to ensure successful product launches.
- Product Specifications:
- Develop and document detailed product specifications, including ingredient lists, nutritional information, and processing parameters using Genesis by Trustwell.
- Ensure that all specifications meet regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Production Trials:
- Plan and execute production trials to test new product formulations and processes.
- Analyze trial results and make recommendations for improvements or adjustments.
- Shelf Life Maintenance:
- Monitor and evaluate the shelf life of products through sensory and analytical testing.
- Implement strategies to extend product shelf life while maintaining quality and safety.
- Regulatory Label Review:
- Review and approve product labels for compliance with local, national, and international regulations.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of label information, including ingredient declarations, allergen statements, and nutrition facts.
- Scale Up:
- Lead the scale-up of products from benchtop to industrial production, ensuring that quality and consistency are maintained.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and quality assurance, to facilitate smooth scale-up processes.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and regulatory standards.
- Experience with production trials and product scale-up.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Experience with sensory evaluation and shelf life studies.
- Familiarity with regulatory label requirements and review processes.
