Position Summary
The Guidewire Configuration Specialist designs, configures and maintains Guidewire InsuranceSuite applications—including PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, Digital, and Integrations—to effectively support dynamic business and technical requirements. This role involves managing complex configurations such as entity modifications, product model updates, Gosu scripting, business rule implementation, and user interface adjustments. The Specialist ensures the seamless alignment of these applications with organizational needs and ongoing improvements.
Additionally, the Specialist oversees release and environment management across the Guidewire ecosystem, coordinating build deployments, maintaining version control, supporting continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and ensuring stability across development, testing, and production environments. This role also involves managing data refreshes, troubleshooting production issues, and facilitating seamless environment migrations to support ongoing operational efficiency.
The Specialist provides guidance to peers, ensures the reliable delivery of enhancements, and leads the continuous improvement of Guidewire implementations, release processes, and environment management practices. Their expertise fosters a culture of excellence and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
- Configure Guidewire InsuranceSuite applications (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter), including product model updates, entity modifications, Gosu scripting, rule creation, workflow design, and user interface adjustments.
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, architects, and QA teams to translate business requirements into system configurations and enhancements.
- Manage release activities by coordinating build deployments, tracking version control, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth transitions between environments.
- Oversee environment management, including monitoring system stability, performing data refreshes, managing environment migrations, and resolving issues across development, testing and production environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system and integration issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations and maintaining optimal performance.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, release procedures, and environment management practices.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on Guidewire platform capabilities, providing mentorship to peers and promoting best practices within the team.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for configuration standards, release processes and environment management practices to enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends, tools and best practices through ongoing professional development ensuring the team remains innovative and effective in its approach.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Expertise in designing, configuring and maintaining Guidewire InsuranceSuite products with certifications such as Guidewire certifications (e.g., Configuration Specialist, PolicyCenter/BillingCenter/ClaimCenter)
- Five or more years of experience configuring and supporting Guidewire InsuranceSuite applications (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, Digital, & Integrations) with experience in release management, including overseeing deployments, version control, and coordinating environments
- Knowledge of Gosu scripting, product model configuration, business rules, workflows, and user interface customizations
- Knowledge CI/CD pipelines as well as proficiency with source code management tools (Git, Bitbucket, etc.), and deployment technologies
- Knowledge of environment management, including overseeing development, testing, production, data refreshes, and migration processes
- Skill in project management, with the ability to lead teams and deliver high-quality results in fast-paced, dynamic environments
- Skill in verbal and written communication the ability to effectively translate complex technical concepts for non-technical colleagues and stakeholders
- Skill in organizational and time management with a keen attention-to-detail, demonstrating flexibility and initiative
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision
- Skill in interpersonal interactions with the ability to resolve conflicts, build relationships, and foster collaboration across diverse teams in fast-paced and dynamic environments
