Summary:
Builders Hardware Inc. (BHI) is a distributor of exterior & interior doors, door glass, and other door system components for the building materials industry. We are currently seeking an HR Coordinator to support our Tampa and Plant City teams.
The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for carrying out Human Resources activities at BHI to ensure adherence to Trimlite LLC policy, company practices and applicable laws. This position serves an administrative function to support smooth operations at all BHI facilities.
A successful candidate will be a self-starter who is highly organized and detail oriented, with a problem solving, “can do” mindset, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. A passion for working with people is a must!
Responsibilities:
- Full-cycle recruitment: developing and posting job ads, reviewing applications, pre-screening candidates, scheduling and conducting interviews, and completing reference checks as required
- Prepares offer letters and coordinates pre-employment drug screening
- Facilitates employee onboarding and conducts new hire orientations
- Facilitates temporary labor requests through external agencies and approves temporary labor hours and invoicing
- Maintains employee personnel files and processes personnel changes
- Administers employee benefits including new hire enrollments, open enrollment activities, terminations, and answers general benefit related questions
- Processes employee terminations and conducts exit interviews
- Reviews and assists with biweekly payroll processing
- Responds to employee verification requests including unemployment inquiries, garnishment and wage orders, and other requests from external agencies
- Facilitates employee engagement, recognition and communication programs
- Facilitates administration of employee performance reviews
- Supports safety procedures and policies, facilitates safety related training, and prepares safety reports as required
- Manages workers compensation claims ensuring timely completion of paperwork, adherence to process, ongoing communication between employees, doctors, claims adjusters and managers, and employee’s return to work.
- Administers employee leave programs (FMLA) with corporate oversight, including preparation of documentation and communication with employees and management.
- Provides guidance on best practices, corrective action, and application of company policies, programs and procedures under corporate oversight
- Participates in employee disciplinary conversations and terminations as necessary
- Serves as primary point of contact for all BHI employee relation concerns, informing and escalating to corporate as necessary
- Assists with workplace investigations; prepares reports on findings and may provide recommendations for appropriate corrective action under corporate oversight.
- Prepares and facilitates various training and development programs and activities
- Provides regular reporting on key HR metrics
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience
- 2 years demonstrated success in a diverse HR role
- Recruiting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of employee benefits and prior benefits administration experience
- Knowledge of Labor Law and employment equity regulations
- Demonstrated understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Hghly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office and related business and communication tools
- Fantastic organizational and time management skills
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Demonstrated success of conflict resolution
- SHRM-PHR or -CP certification a plus!
