- In this program, we serve adults with developmental disabilities at their homes and in the community to help increase or maintain their independence. DSPs travel to meet 1-3 individuals per day and provide one-on-one skills training based on their individual goals
- Assisting participants in their homes with tasks such as budgeting, meal planning, hygiene practices, and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Providing opportunities for the participant to develop socialization/interpersonal communication skills and practice self-regulation/coping techniques
- Providing hands-on training, observation, and evaluation of the participant's household tasks and assisting with further development
- Advocating for participants' inclusion in the community and empowering them to exercise their rights
- Use BuildAbility’s digital program to log the individual’s progress and performance
- Full-time: 15 - 25 hours per week
- Mornings to evenings
- Hours assigned are subject to change weekly based on availability
- San Fernando Valley Region, Sunland, Tujunga, and Burbank, CA
- Traveling position
- Starting at $18.00 - $21.00/hour (dependent upon prior experience and qualifications)

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with individuals with disabilities, their family members, employers, and others in a positive and constructive manner
- High school diploma or GED
- Must pass a DOJ Live Scan fingerprinting background clearance
- Valid California Driver’s License, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation
- Willing to travel: up to 75%
- Fluent in Spanish
- Prior experience supporting individuals with disabilities. If you don’t have experience, we will provide on-the-job training. Some of our best staff did not have experience prior to being hired at BuildAbility!
