Position Summary
The Program Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of year round enrichment, afterschool, and summer camp programming. This position ensures that programs are engaging, safe, and aligned with the organization’s philosophy. The Program Director will focus on enrollment growth, family satisfaction, operational excellence, and staff development to ensure the success and reputation of the program.
Key Responsibilities
Program Oversight & Development
- Design, implement, and evaluate high quality enrichment, afterschool, and summer programs tailored to the needs of children and families.
- Develop curriculum and schedules that balance academics, enrichment, and recreation.
- Track enrollment data and adjust offerings based on demand and feedback.
- Ensure all programs comply with state licensing regulations and organizational standards.
Family & Community Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and caregivers, maintaining strong relationships through open and timely communication.
- Organize family events, open houses, and information sessions to promote programs.
- Respond promptly to concerns or feedback, ensuring high levels of parent satisfaction.
- Develop partnerships with local schools, businesses, and community organizations to increase visibility and attract new families.
Staff Leadership
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise enrichment instructors, afterschool staff, and seasonal camp employees.
- Provide clear expectations, regular feedback, and performance evaluations.
- Promote professional development opportunities to support staff growth and retention.
- Create a positive, collaborative, and professional workplace culture.
Operations & Administration
- Develop and manage program budgets, including revenue projections and expense control.
- Maintain accurate records for enrollment, attendance, compliance, and licensing.
- Oversee daily operations, including scheduling, program logistics, and facility use.
- Monitor and enforce safety standards, emergency procedures, and risk management practices.
Marketing & Enrollment Growth
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials, manage social media presence, and highlight program successes.
- Support enrollment targets by conducting tours, answering inquiries, and showcasing program quality.
- Track key performance indicators such as retention, referrals, and capacity utilization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Recreation, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience in youth enrichment, afterschool, preschool, or camp management.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Proven ability to manage staff, budgets, and program operations.
- Knowledge of state licensing requirements and child safety practices.
- Tech-savvy with experience using scheduling, CRM, and enrollment systems.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
Work Environment & Schedule
- Position requires a mix of office and program floor presence.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours during special events, open houses, and peak programming seasons.
- Must be comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
