What are the responsibilities and job description for the FT - Selah AL & MCU: CERTIFIED MEDICATION AIDE (CMA) position at BUHLER SUNSHINE HOME INC?
The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for safely administering medications in our Assisted Living community. The CMA assists with activities of daily living (ADLs), monitors for medication effectiveness and adverse reactions, and ensures compliance with Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) regulations and facility policies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications in accordance with Kansas CMA regulations and facility policies.
- Accurately document medication administration, resident responses, and any adverse effects.
- Assist residents with ADLs as necessary
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff.
- Ensure the safe storage, handling, and disposal of medications.
- Obtain and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Assist with treatments, dressing changes, and other delegated nursing tasks.
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care while promoting dignity and independence.
- Maintain a clean, organized medication cart and work area.
- Follow all infection control, safety, and confidentiality procedures.
- Current Kansas Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification in good standing with KDADS.
- Current Kansas Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with resident transfers.
- Must pass a background check and health screening, including TB testing.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
Work Environment
- Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout shifts.
- May involve exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids.
- Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, may be required.
