Duties
- Perform patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration.
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks like medication administration, wound dressing changes, and basic life support (BLS) during emergencies.
- Support diagnostic processes by preparing patients for procedures such as X-ray imaging and assisting with specimen collection.
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems accurately to document patient information, ICD coding for diagnoses, and treatment plans.
- Conduct basic physiology and anatomy assessments to aid in patient evaluations across specialties like internal medicine, geriatrics, and medical-surgical units.
- Support hospital medicine teams by coordinating patient flow in inpatient settings or outpatient clinics while ensuring compliance with safety protocols at Level I and Level II trauma centers.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, scheduling appointments, and ensuring a welcoming environment for diverse populations including PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) patients or those in emergency medicine settings.
Experience
- Prior experience working in dermatology clinics, hospital medicine units, urgent care centers, or emergency departments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding standards, and anatomy is essential for accurate documentation and effective communication with healthcare teams.
- Experience with EHR systems and proficiency in intake procedures are required to ensure seamless patient management.
- Familiarity with hospital experience including Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers enhances your ability to thrive in high-pressure environments.
- Previous roles involving X-ray assistance or OR (Operating Room) support demonstrate versatility in clinical skills.
- Background working with diverse patient populations such as geriatrics or pediatric patients in PICU settings is a plus.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or medical-surgical care are advantageous.
