Who are we?
We are Bugeyeguys, located in Branford, Connecticut. Bugeyeguys restores, assembles and sells cars. We are a national facility and cars are routinely shipped-in from around the country. We’ve had more than 400 Austin Healey Bugeye Sprites pass through our building as well as numerous Austin Healey 3000’s, MG’s, Triumphs, Mini’s, and other classics. The position:
We are seeking a highly skilled, self motivated Automotive mechanic. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, restoring, and maintaining British automobiles to the highest standards of authenticity, performance, and craftsmanship. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with Austin Healeys, MG’s and other British automobile makes and understands legacy mechanical systems, and takes pride in precision work. Strength in multiple disciplines is also of great value to us as we often need to innovate to solve problems. Your experience with multiple types of mechanical systems might come in handy… we are not simply looking for a mechanic… we are more interested in applicants with diverse range of applicable skills.
Job Overview:
- Restore classic Austin Healey Bugeyes and other British vehicles to original factory specifications, historical accuracy and/or client specifications
- Diagnose, overhaul, and service mechanical and electrical systems
- Maintain historical authenticity using period-correct techniques
- Help us continue to innovate with upgrades, modifications and reliability improvements applied to classic cars for reliability on modern roadways
Qualifications/Preferred experience:
- 7 years automotive repair experience
- Knowledge of Austin-Healey, MG, and other British automobiles would be a plus, BUT we will train the right candidate
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think out of the box
- High attention to detail performing quality repairs, restoration and craftsmanship mindset
- Welding, fabrication, and upholstery experience is a plus, not required
- Experience working in restoration shops, specialty garages is a plus, not required
What we offer:
- Pay: $70,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year salary based on skills and experience
- 40 hour 5 day work week, No Saturdays!
