Status: Non-Exempt
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree
- Master's degree in related content area preferred
- NYS Teaching Certification preferred
- Experience in classroom teaching preferred
- Evidence of strong communication, problem-solving, and human relations skills
- Ability to effectively work with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators from a diverse community
Terms of Employment:
- Starting Salary: $30,000
- Annual Raise: Negotiable

Position Description:The purpose of the Building Substitute is to supervise and instruct students in the absence of a teacher. The Building Substitute is responsible for providing additional classroom management support while the teacher instructs the students.
Rewarding Experience:Ensuring continuity of student learning and maintaining classroom order in the absence of the regular teacher.
Primary Functions:
- Supervision and instruction of students in the absence of their classroom teacher
- Classroom management support
Supervisory Functions:
- None
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide supervision for students in the absence of their classroom teacher
- Assist the classroom teacher to promote maximum student intellectual and physical development
- Assist the teacher during instructional time to facilitate student learning
- Communicate frequently with learners regarding their academic and social learning
- Provide assistance for instructional services to guide and direct student academic and social development
- Assist in the monitoring of student progress
- Communicate with the classroom teacher relative to the academic, physical, and social developments of students
- Participate in all staff and department meetings as assigned
- Participate in professional development opportunities as assigned
- Supervise students upon their arrival in the morning and dismissal in the afternoon
- Fulfill non-instructional duties as assigned by the Supervisors
