Make a difference in families' lives—join our team as a Child Support Specialist, helping ensure children receive the support they need while guiding clients through the child support process.
- Interviews clients and provides information regarding paternity, child support, court procedures, penalties, and available resources.
- Prepares, enters, and maintains legal and administrative documents; assists with court hearings and testify as required.
- Initiates and manages new cases, monitors ongoing case progress, and ensures compliance with court orders and agency policies.
- Tracks, reconciles, and processes child support payments; issues wage assignments, medical support notices, and other enforcement actions.
- Locates and verifies participant information using agency systems, databases, and other resources; coordinates paternity and genetic testing.
- Maintains case files and documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations; performs administrative tasks to support case management.
- Utilizes case management and other agency systems to access information, process documents, generate reports, and monitor key case milestones.
Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including courts, attorneys, other agencies, and employers, to support child support services; participates in trainings and agency updates to ensure compliance and effective service delivery.
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree in accounting, legal, human services, or another related field plus two years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the necessary skills to successfully perform the position will be considered.
- Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Proficient with computers and office technology; experience with KIDS or similar systems preferred.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and court documents preferred.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and fingerprinting.

This position works primary hours of 8:00AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday onsite at the Buffalo County Courthouse located in Alma, WI.
This is a non-exempt position with an hourly pay range of $22.75 to $24.05 dependent on education, skills, and experience.
