Buehler Asphalt Paving Inc. is a long standing, reputable family owned business located in St. Marys, OH. We have provided asphalt services to Midwest Ohio since 1975. Our work consists of residential and commercial asphalt repairs and new construction. We currently have 21 employees and are now seeking an experienced asphalt roller operator to join our team.
Job Description
The asphalt roller operator is responsible for operating a steel drum roller to compact asphalt mix, ensuring proper density and smoothness. This role is critical for the quality and appearance of the finished asphalt surface.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate static and vibratory rollers to ensure compaction
- Control roller speed, vibration, and path to achieve proper compaction
- Follow designated rolling patterns to prevent material displacement and achieve uniform density
- Ensure smooth transitions between passes to avoid bumps or uneven surfaces
- Monitor asphalt temperature to ensure proper compaction timing
- Adjust rolling techniques based on material conditions, thickness, and temperature
- Identify and correct issues such as over compaction, ridges, and roller marks
- Ensure proper drum lubrication to prevent material buildup
- Operate roller safely, avoiding sudden stops or movements that may cause bumps
- Communicate with foreman and crew to ensure proper rolling sequence
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year asphalt experience
- Knowledge of asphalt and rolling techniques
- Ability to operate heavy equipment
- Strong attention to detail and pride for quality workmanship
- Self motivated and willing to learn
- Ability to work as a team
- Class A CDL is encouraged but not required
