Design Consultant – In-Home Sales
Budget Blinds Central Portland, Tualatin Valley and Oregon City is hiring one full-time Design Consultant to help homeowners choose custom window coverings that fit their style, needs, and budget. You will meet customers in their homes, guide them through product and design options, prepare measurements and proposals, and support each project from consultation through installation.
What you’ll do
- Meet with homeowners across the larger Portland, Oregon service area to understand their goals, preferences, and budget.
- Recommend custom blinds, shades, shutters, and drapery, including product and operating options suited to each home.
- Take accurate measurements, prepare quotes and proposals, present solutions, and guide customers through the purchasing decision.
- Follow up on consultations and orders, keep customer records current, and coordinate with the office and installation team.
- Provide a thoughtful, professional customer experience from the first visit through project completion.
What we’re looking for
- Strong listening, communication, organization, and attention to detail.
- A consultative, customer-focused approach and the ability to explain options clearly.
- Prior in-home sales, design, home improvement, or other customer-facing experience is helpful; product training is provided.
- Ability to travel to local appointments; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Availability for a full-time Monday–Friday schedule.
Pay and benefits
- Base salary of approximately $30,000 per year, plus uncapped commission.
- Total compensation has no stated cap. Strong designers typically earn more than $150,000 per year; actual earnings depend on sales results.
