Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Chinese teacher to join our summer camp staff. As a Chinese teacher, you will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging lessons and activities to children and teenagers attending our summer camp program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Chinese language teaching, experience working with children, and a passion for fostering cultural understanding.
Primary Responsibilities:
1.Plan and prepare daily lessons and activities that align with the camp curriculum and objectives, incorporating language learning, cultural elements, and enjoyable activities that cater to the varying abilities of students within the elementary age range.
2.Implement immersive language teaching techniques to enhance students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in Chinese.
3.Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation and fosters a love for the Chinese language and culture.
4.Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities, including games, songs, stories, and multimedia materials.
5.Assess and monitor students' progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their language learning goals.
6.Collaborate with other camp staff to integrate Chinese language and culture into cross-curricular activities and special events.
7.Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times, following camp policies and procedures.
8.Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members, providing updates on students' progress and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
9. Attend and actively participate in summer camp events and activities, as well as Final Ceremony.
10.Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities as required.
11.Serve as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating enthusiasm, patience, and respect for others at all times.
12.Promptly check and respond to all professional messages and emails from colleagues, parents, and administration to ensure effective communication and address issues or inquiries.
Qualifications:
1.BA/AA degree in Education, Chinese language, or related field preferred.
2.Fluency in Mandarin Chinese both written and spoken, and proficiency in English communication.
3.Previous experience teaching Chinese language and culture to children or teenagers, preferably in a camp or educational setting.
4.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
5.Knowledge of effective teaching strategies and classroom management techniques.
6.Creativity and adaptability in designing engaging and age-appropriate lessons and activities.
7.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive camp environment.
8.Ability to pass a background check and meet other camp employment requirements.
Pay: $23.15 - $27.61 per hour
