Buckley King's Cleveland office is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Paralegal/Legal Assistant to primarily support the Firm’s Community Association Practice. The ideal candidate will be personable, professional, and proactive. This position may be part-time or full-time for candidates seeking flexibility.
Responsibilities Include
- Maintaining calendars, dockets, and staying ahead of deadlines and communications to ensure timely completion
- Drafting, reviewing, processing, and organizing paperwork, correspondence, pleadings, and court filings
- Filing/e-filing accurately and promptly across required court systems and county offices
- Researching, reviewing court dockets, monitoring service returns
- Review/process mail and pleadings and identify key information or required next steps
- Communicating with clients, management companies, debtors, opposing counsel, and courts
- Light overflow work as needed to support the Firm such as reception relief
- Reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness
- Coordinating meetings, video conferences, depositions, and conference calls
- Assisting with monthly client billing, maintaining client contact information, and preparing necessary documents (e.g., intake form, engagement letter) for new clients, new matters, and file closures
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Litigation experience required, and collections experience strongly preferred
- Excellent communication, organizational, and people skills
- Proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents and handling legal administrative tasks
- Familiarity with the FDCPA and HIPAA laws
- Strong document review skills, including the ability to identify inconsistencies, ensure accuracy, and meet court and firm standards
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Proficiency with standard office and legal practice tools, including Microsoft 365, document management systems, video-conferencing platforms, and e-filing platforms
- Familiarity with federal and state court e-filing and redaction requirements
- Critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete tasks within established timeframes
- Reliable and punctual
- Professional telephone manners are essential
- Experience with community/homeowners' associations a plus
- Legal support experience preferred
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience preferred
