Sales & Use Tax Manager
📍 Des Plaines, IL (Hybrid)
A well-established, global organization with a strong U.S. footprint is seeking a Sales & Use Tax Manager to own and elevate its indirect tax function. This role will lead compliance, audit management, and process modernization efforts across a complex, multi-entity environment.
This is a highly visible position for a tax professional who enjoys combining technical depth, operational leadership, and cross-functional partnership—with meaningful exposure to ERP transformation initiatives.
What You’ll Own
- End-to-end responsibility for U.S. sales and use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Oversight of return preparation, filings, data accuracy, exemption handling, and internal tax inquiries
- Leadership of sales and use tax audits, including preparation, authority interaction, and issue resolution
- Identification and mitigation of indirect tax risk through process improvement and controls
- Research and interpretation of complex tax issues, providing practical guidance to internal stakeholders
- Active involvement in ERP-related tax initiatives, including system implementation, testing, and optimization
- Partnership with Finance, AP, Procurement, Customer Service, IT, and external advisors to ensure consistent tax treatment
- Management of external consultants and participation in broader finance or systems-related projects
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- 7 years of progressive tax experience, with a strong focus on sales & use tax
- Background in public accounting and/or large corporate environments
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA strongly preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
- Exposure to VAT or international indirect tax is a plus
- Proven ability to lead audits, manage deadlines, and work cross-functionally
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate tax complexity into business-friendly guidance
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Salary : $125,000 - $165,000
