A large, globally recognized law firm is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of U.S. Accounting to lead its accounting operations and financial reporting function.
This highly visible leadership role will oversee U.S. accounting operations, general ledger integrity, financial reporting, and accounting governance. The Director will play a key role in shaping accounting strategy, strengthening internal controls, driving process transformation, and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute accounting strategies that support organizational growth, operational excellence, and long-term business objectives
- Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Oversee the integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting processes
- Lead the evaluation and implementation of accounting standards, reporting requirements, and financial control enhancements
- Partner with leadership to enhance financial reporting capabilities, analytics, and business performance insights
- Monitor financial trends, performance indicators, and balance sheet activity to identify risks and opportunities
- Lead cross-functional transformation initiatives involving accounting systems, reporting platforms, workflows, and data governance
- Drive continuous improvement efforts to streamline accounting operations and strengthen internal controls
- Establish monitoring and reporting mechanisms to assess control performance and compliance
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA and/or MBA preferred
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, and accounting governance
- Experience leading teams and driving process improvement or transformation initiatives
- Strong analytical, communication, project management, and organizational skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment
