Summary

Are you passionate about implementing cloud-based enterprise infrastructure? Buchanan Technologies www.buchanan.com is currently looking for a Cloud Engineer who can assist our client with designing, developing, and provisioning cloud-based infrastructure to support our customers.

In this role you will be working to implement cloud-based technology solutions, infrastructure, pipelines, and systems using Azure and ADO, ensuring alignment with documented architecture and established policies and standards.

Cloud Infrastructure & Network Engineering - You will be architecting and implementing SaaS, IaaS and PaaS based solutions in Azure. The ability to develop infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Packer, and ansible will be vital for this role with administrative expertise on both Windows and Linux environments.

Build Engineering & Deployment – Expertise working with source control systems (Git, ADO), implementing automated CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps), manage build labs & runners, optimize build performance, branch management, authoring YAML, and the ability to develop and support deployment solutions for application teams will be vital for this role.

Systems Administrative Expertise – Systems Administrative skills include Entra / Active Directory, databases, SQL, and Power shell scripting expertise is desired. The ability to administer applications and support and troubleshoot difficult level 3 issues for clients is required.

Required Skillsets

• IaaS- Azure Solution Architecture & Implementation Expertise including technical design & documentation, & administration Experience (Azure Certifications Preferred). Experience administering and configuring Windows and Linux virtual machines, app services, SQL services, Private Endpoints, AKS, etc.
• IAC- Hands-on Infrastructure-as-code experience using Terraform and Ansible is a must-have- Real-world experience writing IAC code to describe cloud services and resources.
• Strong technical documentation and technical project management experience is a must-have for this role. (development of VISIO diagrams, detailed tech specs, project plans, etc.)
• IT Operations Experience – Patching, Certificate Management, Backups, Monitoring, ITSM, CMDB, and general IT Operations & support experience in Azure.
• Network implementation and troubleshooting – Experience with VNETs/VPCs, Subnets, Firewalls, DNS, VPN’s, WANs, Express Route, CDN’s, Gateways, and common network appliances.
• Observability - Experience using monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor & Dashboard, CloudWatch, and Data Dog as well as configuring effective alerts.
• Disaster Recovery- Experience implementing and administering backup tools such as Comvault, Rubrik, Azure Backup, and Azure Site Recovery.
• Configuration Management - Configuration and management of Virtual Machines using Terraform, Packer & Ansible
• Source Control - Expertise managing source control systems and knowledge of GIT Command line Syntax (merge, rebase, reset, etc.)
• CI/CD - Expertise developing automated CI/CD pipelines in an enterprise environment.
• Infrastructure Scripting - Ability to develop fully automated playbooks and solutions using BASH, MSBUILD, YAML, PowerShell, and other automation tools.
• Debugging - Strong debugging and investigative skills with the capability to investigate and resolve networking issues, build breaks and code merge issues.
• Developer Support- The capability to support developers using common desktop tools and IDEs such as Visual Studio and Eclipse
• Cyber Security- Understanding of information security principles & frameworks, best practices, and experience patching and hardening endpoints and resources.

Desired Skillsets (Nice-to-have)

• Certified Administration experience with Azure, GitHub, ADO, SCCM, In-Tune, Control Tower, Lighthouse, CrowdStrike, Data Dog, Comvault, and common Cloud & DevOps tools.
• Containerization - Kubernetes Orchestration/Docker provisioning, configuration, and management. Ability to develop custom automation and packaging solutions for applications (docker composure projects, etc.) is valued.
• Certified Azure Architecture & Administration Expertise
• Hands-on Development Experience in C# / .NET / Python & NODE with a wide range of projects.
• Database tuning experience
• Build Engineering - Broad knowledge of how to build various project types (Terraform projects, C# Console Apps, .NET Core Apps, Node JS Projects, Java Code, Database Projects, SSIS ETL Projects, Docker Composure Project Builds, etc.)
• Experience working in Project-based engagement is preferred with the ability to interface with client stakeholders. Ideal candidate will show an aptitude for customer service and have a consultative mindset.
