Position Overview

BUCCI 122 Corp. is seeking a knowledgeable, hands-on, and detail-oriented Field IT Technician to support firewall and network upgrade projects. This role combines in-field technical deployments with core IT support responsibilities, including equipment installation, cabling, troubleshooting, scripting, testing, and documentation. The ideal candidate has strong technical fundamentals, works well both independently and as part of a team, and is comfortable operating in remote and industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

The IT Technician will play a critical role in supporting field deployments and maintaining IT infrastructure across hardware, software, and networking systems. The highest priority of this role is the physical installation work performed in the field, including installing and mounting network equipment in existing data racks, building and installing new data racks, CAT.6 cabling, fiber installation and repair, and communication masts. These physical build-out activities represent the largest portion of the scope of work and are foundational to the successful deployment, cutover, and long-term operation of all network systems. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in a Level 2 IT support role and must be able to work both independently and collaboratively. Core responsibilities and qualifications include:

  • Respond to and resolve technical support issues involving hardware, software, and network connectivity.
  • Remove legacy network equipment and install new equipment per project specifications.
  • Remove legacy telecom equipment and wiring.
  • Install and test IP phones.
  • Perform hands-on structured cabling work including pulling, routing, terminating, and testing Cat6, LMR, and fiber cabling. Install and repair fiber, label and dress cables, perform tone and tagging, install ladder racking, assemble and ground data cabinets and racks, and install masts and associated cabling for satellite communications.
  • Validate and maintain continuity for SCADA, Corporate, Telephony, and auxiliary systems.
  • Power up, verify, and assist with basic configuration and testing of newly installed firewalls and network devices.
  • Support cutovers, device swaps, and live troubleshooting during bridge calls and critical transitions.
  • Provision and maintain routers, switches, servers, and firewalls in a secure and scalable environment.
  • Manage user accounts, device provisioning, and access control using Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
  • Troubleshoot networking issues including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, LAN/WAN, VPN, and basic routing.
  • Write and utilize scripts (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) to automate tasks and improve operational workflows.
  • Read, interpret, and redline drawings, cable schedules, SOWs, and port mapping documentation.
  • Support deployment, maintenance, commissioning, and decommissioning of cellular, VSAT, microwave, fiber, DIA, and MPLS circuits.
  • Handle electrical components (12V, 24V, 48V, 110V) and perform diagnostics using a voltmeter.
  • Proficiently use standard hand and test tools including drills, punch-down tools, crimpers, toner/probe kits, cable and fiber testers.
  • Support and troubleshoot gate controllers and analog and digital.
  • Image, deploy, and replace hardware while maintaining accurate configuration and asset documentation.
  • Capture complete project deliverables including photos, redlines, serial numbers, asset logs, and field notes.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, internal teams, and third-party vendors to resolve complex issues.
  • Demonstrate strong documentation, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Take ownership of project deliverables, final documentation, and reporting to project managers.
  • Mentor junior staff and support development of the technical workforce.
  • Follow all safety requirements including PPE, tailgate meetings, and site-specific protocols.
  • Travel to regional project sites, including occasional multi-day assignments.
  • Treat company tools, vehicles, and equipment with care and responsibility.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience in IT support, telecom, networking, or infrastructure field work
  • Strong understanding of Cat6 and fiber termination, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Experience working with firewalls, routers, switches, modems, and related network equipment
  • Working knowledge of Windows 10/11, macOS, and basic Linux environments
  • Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and user account management
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including LAN/WAN, VLANs, subnetting, and VPNs
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote job sites
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely operate hand and power tools
