JOB SUMMARY:

 This is a dual focused role. 

  • Candidate will work closely with Class III Sales Manager to review and / or prepare bid packages to EPC firms and end users, follow up on technical clarifications including drawings, expedite orders with Manufacturing to ensure on time delivery, and generally manage orders to ensure compliance.  This role includes entering and generating quotes, and converting quoted items into orders as needed.  

 

  • Candidate will work closely with Direct/Regional Sales Managers to provide inside sales support for BS&B Carolina (North and South Carolina) and BS&B Upper Midwest (Minnesota, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota) territories.   This role includes entering and generating quotes, submitting quotes to customers, and converting quoted items into orders. 

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 Collect and maintain documentation files to ensure compliance to customer requirements.

 Timely distribution of documentation to meet customer timelines.

 

  • Identify customer requirements to ensure compliance.

 

  • Maintain a computer database of all filed documentation that ensures fast retrieval of documents.

 

  • Generate documents as necessary to meet customer requirements.

 

  • Support the Class III Sales Manager and Direct/Regional Sales Managers with product, application, and sales expertise.

 

  • Utilize customer’s online software programs for quotation and documentation submittal.

 

  • Prepare and submit prequalification forms, vendor approval forms and bid summary forms.

 

  • Assist with preparation of customer quotations.

 

  • Liaison with Engineering and QC Departments to support customer orders and inquiries.

 

  • Coordinate scheduling of inspectors or customer personnel to meet project requirements.

 

  • Ensure timely responsiveness to customer inquiries.

 

  • Liaise with senior technical sales personnel and engineering to address technical matters on customer’s behalf.

 

  • Follow up on open quotes.

 

  • Handle customer emergency requirements.

 

  • Enter all orders received within a timely manner.

 

  • Assist Customer Service Manager with other sales territories as needed. 

 

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

 Performs other duties as assigned.

 JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 Education:     Bachelor's degree.  Mechanical Engineering or other technical degree preferred.  

Experience: Strong technical background.  Previous work in a sales support/customer service role in a manufacturing environment a plus.

Mental/Physical/Visual Demands:   Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.  Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage and to draw and interpret graphs.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineered drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, data sheets, codes/standards, and procedure manuals. Frequently needs to talk and hear. Frequently stands, walks and sits, as well as using hands to touch or feel, and arms to reach.

Working Conditions:   General office conditions. Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).  Occasional exposure to light manufacturing environments (machine shop, press operation, welding area, packaging and inspection) when dealing with Manufacturing, QC, Engineering, or other personnel/situations requiring such engagement.

 Equipment/Tools Used: Must possess the ability to learn the computer system and work with company and customer’s software (word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, etc.).  Frequently uses office equipment such as telephones, facsimile machine, photocopier, LCD projector, etc.

 Safety: Safe work performance is required from each employee at all times.  Additionally, the proper discharge of safety responsibilities is an integral part of each employee’s performance appraisal.
