Responsibilities
- Collect blood samples through venipuncture and blood sampling techniques using aseptic methods to ensure specimen integrity.
- Prepare and process laboratory specimens accurately, following established protocols for labeling, handling, and documentation.
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to assist in patient assessments.
- Assist with patient care activities, including performing EKGs, administering vaccinations, administering B12 injections, ensuring comfort, and maintaining a welcoming environment.
- Maintain strict adherence to laboratory procedures and safety protocols, including infection control and sterile techniques.
- Support clinical laboratory operations by organizing specimens, updating patient records, and ensuring timely delivery to the lab.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare team members.
Experience
- Prior laboratory experience or clinical laboratory experience is highly preferred; recent graduates with relevant training are encouraged to apply.
- Proven proficiency in phlebotomy, venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen collection/processing.
- Experience working in hospital or healthcare settings is advantageous but not mandatory; enthusiasm for learning is essential.
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques, procedures, and safety standards ensures high-quality patient care.
- Strong understanding of physiology and anatomy enhances your ability to perform accurate specimen collection and vital sign assessments.
