Position Summary
The Business Department Chair provides leadership and administration as a peer instructor. This is a faculty position that integrates faith and learning in the classroom while providing academic and administrative leadership for the Department of Business. This role contributes to a collaborative, Christ-centered academic community committed to the mission to “educate students to become servants of Christ to make a difference in today’s world.” The position emphasizes excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, with particular attention to meaningful student engagement in small class settings where faculty can know students well and invest in their intellectual and spiritual formation.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Department Chair provides leadership in scheduling, faculty development and evaluation, and departmental planning. The Chair works collaboratively with faculty to foster a collegial environment, advance curriculum development, and guide program direction. The role offers the opportunity to shape both student outcomes and the strategic direction of the department, while representing the department within the faculty and the broader college community.
The successful candidate will bring disciplinary expertise in Management, Marketing, or a related business field, teaching undergraduate courses in their area of specialization while also supporting the broader needs of the Business Department through teaching additional business and related courses. Faculty will mentor students academically and spiritually and contribute actively to curriculum development and program improvement.
Adjustments to teaching responsibilities may be made in accordance with the college’s workload policy based on administrative responsibilities and the type of courses assigned. All Bryan faculty are expected to follow the policies, guidelines, and instructions in the Bryan College Faculty Handbook.

Education Required
- Minimum of a master’s degree in a business-related field, with at least 18 graduate hours in Management, Marketing, or a related business discipline: terminal degree preferred.
- Previous college teaching experience required.
- Demonstrated leadership or administrative experience in an academic or professional setting preferred.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and current developments in the academic discipline and in professional business practice.
- Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching the courses assigned.
- Ability to create a syllabus and effectively deliver the learning objectives of the course.
- Ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
- Ability to mentor and evaluate faculty, fostering professional growth and instructional excellence.
- Ability to learn relevant functions of BrightSpace, Bryan College’s online learning management system.
- Ability to effectively and appropriately integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
- Teach a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester, including courses in Management, Marketing, or related business areas, and additional business courses as needed; provide timely feedback and grades to students.
- Design and deliver engaging course plans and materials that reflect both disciplinary rigor and faith integration.
- Serve students through advising, recruitment, and retention, with an emphasis on building meaningful faculty–student relationships that extend beyond the classroom.
- Maintain weekly office hours as a structured opportunity for mentorship, academic coaching, and personalized instruction.
- Lead departmental course scheduling and coordinate faculty teaching assignments in alignment with program needs.
- Provide leadership in faculty evaluation, development, and support, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and collegial accountability.
- Guide curriculum development and program assessment efforts, working collaboratively with faculty to strengthen academic offerings and student outcomes.
- Facilitate departmental meetings and initiatives, fostering collaboration, communication, and shared ownership of departmental goals.
- Represent the Business Department within faculty governance structures and the broader college community.
- Participate in faculty committee service as a meaningful avenue to influence institutional direction, strengthen academic programs, and contribute to shared governance.
- Support the Mission of the College through service on committees and through additional initiatives that extend the College’s impact.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This is a promotion track (Instructor/Assistant/Associate/Professor) non-tenure track position. Initial placement on this promotion track will be determined at the time of hire.
