POSITION TITLE: Substitute Car/Van Driver
CONTRACT YEAR: School Year (Call as Needed)
SALARY: Daily Rate Based on the Approved Substitute Car/Van Driver Pay Scale
DEPARTMENT: Transportation
START DATE: Rolling Hires (August–May)
Direct Accountability and Report
Works under the supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, who is responsible for carrying out the operations of Transportation Services across the division. An annual classified evaluation will be based on the job description, division and personal goals and objectives specific to the position, and the performance of the Substitute Car/Van Driver.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Successfully complete a criminal background check, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry check, and any other pre-employment screenings required by Brunswick County Public Schools.
- Provide a satisfactory driving record from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Complete BCPS training for substitute car/van drivers as required by the school division.
- Complete and sign the Brunswick County Public Schools Substitute Employee Agreement prior to accepting substitute assignments.

- Adheres to federal and state laws, School Board policies, and ethical guidelines.
- Sets goals for improvement of knowledge and skills.
- Works in a collegial and collaborative manner with transportation staff, administrators, other school personnel, parents, and the community.
- Reports to work regularly and maintains dependable attendance.
