General Function
The HR generalist I provides support to the Human Resources office as well as excellent customer service to employees and the general public in a timely, cooperative, courteous, and professional manner. The primary responsibility will consist of managing the Colleague/HRIS system and files, making sure all employee information is up to date and accurate. In addition, this position will support the human resource department regarding human resource activities, processes, policies, and procedures; prepares various correspondence and memoranda; coordinates activities related to area of assignment. Compliance and confidentiality are extremely imperative.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages data in the Colleague system, assuring all information is entered accurately.
- Serves as the backup Title IX Coordinator for employees in the absence of the HR Director.
- Guides hiring managers with the recruitment process through NEOGOV.
- Completes Salary Calculation form when candidate is selected.
- Assists with coordinating appointment scheduling with interviews to avoid schedule conflicts.
- Collaborates with HR Generalist II to ensure all new hires have completed the necessary new hire paperwork, including Safe Colleges.
- Processes the Employee Action Change and Computer Access Request Forms after the appropriate signatures are obtained.
- Enters job postings within applicant tracking system and across internal or external job boards.
- Review and move qualified applicants along in the recruitment process.
- Notify hiring manager of job posting expiration and determine if an extension is needed.
- Supports the HR Generalist II in their absence for administration and other employee related items.
- Provides non-select and select notification to candidates through the applicant tracking system.
- Maintains the organization and retention of HR records electronically or in the file room by collaborating with HR Generalist II.
- Responds to employee verification requests and other requests for information.
- Reads, verifies, and reviews documents for accuracy and relevant information, proofreads and edits draft reports or correspondence for errors in grammar or structure.
- Assists with monthly and year-end tracking regarding terminations, transfers, and new hires.
- Ensure faculty transcripts are received and properly recorded.
- Provides annual review tracking for performance evaluations
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree in the Business related studies, along with two years of working HR experience.
- Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with employees, retirees, students, college community and the public.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to maintain confidentiality are imperative.
- Experience using technology including e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and use of the Internet.
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in human resources.
- Three years or more of human resource experience.
- Knowledge and training in Title IX Laws.
- Experience with NEOGOV, or another applicant tracking or recruiting software system.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to use Colleague or HRIS database systems, internet and maintain confidentiality.
