About the Role:
The Shipping Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of outgoing shipments within a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for coordinating and executing all shipping activities, including order picking, packing, labeling, and documentation, to meet delivery schedules and customer requirements. The Shipping Clerk will utilize various warehouse equipment and technology to handle materials safely and maintain inventory accuracy. This role requires close collaboration with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to streamline shipping operations and resolve any discrepancies. Ultimately, the Shipping Clerk contributes to maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction by ensuring timely and error-free shipment of products.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in shipping and receiving within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with bar code scanning and RF scanner technology.
- Ability to operate electric and manual pallet jacks safely.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and shipping documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Forklift certification or experience.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations related to warehouse operations.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing industry setting.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately pick and fill orders according to shipping instructions using RF scanners and bar code technology.
- Operate electric pallet jacks and manual pallet jacks to move and stage products for shipment safely and efficiently.
- Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels, ensuring all information is complete and accurate.
- Inspect outgoing shipments for quality and quantity compliance, reporting any discrepancies or damages to management.
- Coordinate with warehouse and production teams to maintain organized storage and timely order fulfillment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shipping area to comply with safety and operational standards.
- Assist in receiving activities as needed, including unloading and verifying incoming shipments.
