Brunel is currently searching for a Senior Principal Engineer – Water Treatment Process for direct hire with our mining client. This role will be a hybrid position based in Phoenix, Arizona.
In this role you will join our client’s Water Management Solutions Team as a senior technical leader driving sustainable water strategies across global mining operations. This key role focuses on innovative solutions to reduce freshwater use, increase water reuse and recycling, and support environmental stewardship through advanced water treatment technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and review of advanced engineering deliverables, including process models, mass balances, and treatment system designs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for large-scale industrial water treatment projects, guiding process design, equipment selection, and operational optimization.
- Collaborate with mine sites and project teams to align treatment solutions with business and sustainability goals.
- Advise on pilot testing, applied research, and data interpretation to inform engineering decisions.
- Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement by participating in industry forums and internal knowledge sharing.
- Manage budgets for consulting, vendor support, and design services, supporting long-term planning and execution.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 10 years of related experience (or Master’s 8 years, or PhD 6 years).
- Expertise in water and wastewater treatment design, particularly for industrial or mining applications.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in MS Office (including CoPilot), and experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 5 weeks per quarter.
- MUST BE eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or certification in financial/economic evaluation.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary projects.
- Background in chemical, civil, or environmental engineering as applied to mining and hydrometallurgy.
- Experience with cost estimating, project controls, and modeling software for water treatment.
- Fluency in Spanish or Bahasa Indonesian.
