Are you mechanically inclined and looking to build a long-term career in diesel and heavy equipment repair? Brundage-Bone Concrete Pumping is seeking a Diesel Mechanic Trainee to join our Portland team.
This is an entry-level position designed for individuals who have some hands-on mechanical experience and want to expand their skills working alongside experienced diesel mechanics. Experience with heavy equipment, construction equipment, farm equipment, automotive repair, hydraulics, welding, or diesel engines is a plus.
We are looking for motivated individuals with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a passion for repairing and maintaining equipment.
What You'll Do
- Assist experienced mechanics with inspections, maintenance, and repairs on diesel-powered trucks and heavy equipment.
- Learn to diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diesel engine systems.
- Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, and equipment inspections.
- Assist with welding, fabrication, and equipment repairs as needed.
- Learn to read service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Support shop and field repair activities as business needs require.
What We're Looking For
- Mechanical aptitude and desire to learn a skilled trade.
- Prior experience working on vehicles, heavy equipment, farm equipment, industrial equipment, or similar machinery preferred.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work both indoors and outdoors.
- Reliable transportation and strong attendance.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
