We are looking for a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to helping transfer school students achieve academic recovery through innovative teaching strategies, differentiated instruction, and engaging coursework. You will be responsible for guiding students through their English Language Arts (ELA) studies and fostering a love of literature, writing, and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in English Language Arts aligned with New York State standards.
- Support students in developing strong reading, writing, and analytical skills, with attention to varied learning styles and abilities.
- Utilize data-driven instruction to tailor lessons to meet students’ individual needs, particularly those who have struggled academically or need credit recovery.
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic growth and student well-being.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources, including technology, to make learning engaging and relevant for transfer school students.
- Provide feedback and assessments that support students’ academic progress and skill development.
- Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, counselors, and support staff to address students’ academic, emotional, and social needs.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning sessions.
- Encourage and support students’ participation in extracurricular activities related to English, such as writing clubs, literary projects, or school publications.
