Job Summary
Brown Federal Services is seeking Industrial Hygiene (IH) Technicians at both Junior and Senior levels to support environmental restoration activities at the PORTS site in Piketon, Ohio. This role focuses on monitoring and controlling chemical, biological, radiological, and physical hazards while ensuring compliance with DOE requirements and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support industrial hygiene efforts to monitor and control workplace hazards
- Collect samples and analyze data to evaluate environmental conditions
- Ensure compliance with DOE Orders, safety procedures, and federal/state regulations
- Generate reports, charts, and documentation
- Work with IH Leads, safety teams, and site management
- Participate in safety meetings and promote a strong safety culture
Senior Level Additional Responsibilities:
- Support complex IH analyses and evaluations
- Assist in implementing hazard controls
- Interpret regulations and provide guidance
- Support and mentor junior technicians
Junior IH Technician
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 to 4 years of related experience
Senior IH Technician
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 to 5 years of related experience
For Both Levels
- Ability to obtain a DOE Security Clearance
- Radiological training (or ability to obtain)
- Basic understanding of safety regulations and industrial hygiene practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior DOE or federal site experience
- Experience with industrial hygiene sampling equipment
- Familiarity with environmental restoration or remediation projects
Work Environment
- Environmental restoration site (outdoor and industrial settings)
- Potential exposure to hazardous and radiological materials
- Use of PPE including respirators and protective gear
- Physically active role involving walking, lifting, and fieldwork
- Work in varying weather conditions and confined spaces
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly (100 lbs occasionally with assistance)
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Ability to wear respirators and protective equipment
- Ability to work in confined spaces and extreme conditions
