Provide supervision of pretrial and sentenced adults and juveniles including case management services to enhance public safety and facilitate offender change through evidence based and restorative practices. - Conduct bail evaluations, pre-sentence/pre-disposition investigations, and electronic sentencing worksheets for the Court ensuring the Court has the necessary information needed to make knowledgeable case disposition or release conditions.
- Conduct in-depth interviews with clients.
- Conduct other collateral information-gathering interviews.
- Obtain and read criminal history data.
- Prepare and submit written or verbal reports to the Court, including recommendations for sanctions, evaluations, treatment, and/or education to assist in the issuance of appropriate evidence-based dispositions.
- Conduct diversion interviews with clients and formulate diversion contracts.
- Attend court when necessary.
- Carry an assigned caseload in the investigation and supervision of adult or juvenile clients under the jurisdiction of Brown County or Department of Corrections.
- Evaluate client’s risk and needs utilizing objective assessments and other screening instruments; interpret and assess the information to develop and adjust supervision and/or case plans; and make referrals based on client risks and needs for treatment or
programming. - Rely on research-supported practices, including motivational interviewing to increase intrinsic motivation to change, and promote skill building by utilizing Evidence-Based Practices.
- Provide tools to help clients build a support system that positively impacts the client’s well-being and promotes success with supervision.
- Monitor and verify client compliance with probation/supervised release conditions through collateral contacts, including treatment providers, family, schools, and law enforcement.
- Investigate clients’ activities to ensure compliance.
- Provide transfer investigations for clients moving to the area or supervised release referrals from Hearings Release Unit.
- Implement a plan with specific, practical, and attainable goals that will foster adjustment.
- Coordinate and encourage client involvement in treatment by utilizing available community resources.
- Provide resources and/or refer clients for supplemental evaluation and/or appropriate education, counseling, and treatment programs.
- Provide crisis management, which includes identifying, assessing, and determining the appropriate course of action in urgent situations.
- Participate in client staffing to coordinate services to enhance client’s success
- Transfer, re-structure, violate and close client’s files when appropriate
- Administer alcohol/drug testing and collect DNA samples pursuant to statute.
- Develop and implement case plans with clients using motivational interviewing.
- Reassess client’s risk/criminogenic needs and level of supervision utilizing a current risk/needs assessment.
- Provide the Court or DOC HRU Unit with written and verbal reports as necessary.
- Provide on-call coverage during the week and on weekends per rotation schedule.
- Refer clients to appropriate programs.
- Conduct mental health screens and make appropriate referrals.
- Maintain on-going victim contact to assure victim safety.
- Testify in court/ HRU when required.
- Conduct home, school, or client placement contacts.
- Conduct search and siezure and proper evidence processing.
- Serve as a representative of the Court.
- Maintain knowledge of local resources and services.
- Maintain professional working relationships with and act as a liaison between the Bench, county departments, local/state/federal agencies, treatment providers, schools, victims, the public, and clients/support persons.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and criminal justice partners regarding client’s involvement in criminal activity to promote public safety.
- Assist in developing and facilitating department programs.
- Assist in training interns/student observers.
- Maintain required certifications and attend core training in Evidence Based Practices and other applicable training.
- Maintain accurate documentation of a wide variety of case activities, including, but not limited to contacts with clients, victims, concerned parties and treatment agencies.
- Demonstrate an ability to use CSTS, DOC Portal, DVS, POR, BCA systems, and any other websites as required.
- Participate in facilitating programs.
- Complete any other duties assigned by Supervisor/Director or as apparent.

- Regular attendance is required.
- Attending meetings and required training, as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Corrections or Criminal Justice or related field.
- Pass a criminal history check.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Working knowledge of and demonstrated ability to utilize Evidence Based Practices.
- Working knowledge of local/state/federal laws, court rules, and professional standards in the field of corrections.
- Working knowledge of community resources available to facilitate offender change.
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
- Ability to problem solve, make decisions, and use available resources.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of clients.
- Knowledge of data practices.
- Participate in yearly safety training, which may include the use of handcuffs, taser, mace, take down measures, search and seizure, and first aid training.
