Yard Laborer - Entry to Construction Career

Job description:

We are looking for a motivated, self-starter who will take our entry opportunity and run with it.

We train for a civil construction career in excavation, concrete or traffic control!

Brown Contracting is looking for hard working team players with great communication skills. Taking initiative and a can-do attitude is a must! Construction background is also beneficial.

Start in our yard to and use it as a learning ground to learn the tools of the trade – there are many opportunities for advancement to work in the field on our prevailing wage projects located throughout Oregon (Prevailing wage opportunities are: $36 /hr. & significant benefits).

You'll learn how to:

• Stage material for upcoming projects and load on service rigs
• Pick up/arrange for delivery of materials to yard/projects
• Use forklift for loading/unloading service rigs and delivery trucks
• Organize and maintain wood yard/pipe racks, rebar, dowel baskets, and steel stakes
• Inventory, inspection, cleaning and repair of all traffic control items
• Inspection and maintenance of power tools, generators, forklifts and extension cords
• Inventory of shop supplies and lumber yard items
• Dump runs of construction debris
• Yard maintenance including road maintenance, landscaping, weekly utility inspections and repairs
• Indoor office/shop maintenance including janitorial and light repairs
• Report to Yard Manager throughout the day with updates on completed tasks and material needs

We want to meet you! This is an entry level position. We provide full training (including forklift and flagger certification) to work in our yard located in Sherwood-Wilsonville area.

Requirements:

• Valid driver's license from any state REQUIRED
• Reliable transportation to our yard
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
• Work outside in all weather conditions

Schedule:

• $17-19/hr. DOE
• Full time Monday – Friday (no weekends!)
• "Swing" - 9:30am-Close (Close: 6pm-9pm)
