10-Month Position
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Seeking a physical education teacher to provide general physical education in an alternative middle school setting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assess individual students and develop, adapt and implement physical education programming on an individual basis or group setting
- Develop differentiated instruction and curricula that meet the needs of students (7 & 8) with a wide range of skills and experiences
- Ongoing collaboration with the Academic Center for Excellence team to ensure the provision of quality services
- Engage students at a physically and cognitively appropriate level
- Accurately complete all paperwork in a timely manner as mandated by New York State and school policies and procedures
Job Qualifications
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- NYS Certification in Physical Education
- Experience working within a high school physical education setting is preferred, but not required
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Belief in the value of physical exercise for every student, and willingness to use creative measures to help students maximize their potential in the gym and in the classroom
