This position works directly under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of a high-rise residential community. This role supports the maintenance team by performing routine cleaning, trash removal, and light labor tasks to ensure a positive living environment for residents and guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain all common areas including lobbies, hallways, elevators, stairwells, fitness centers, and restrooms (touch up paint, lighting repairs etc)
- Collect and dispose of trash and recycling from designated areas and inspect trash rooms on multiple floors
- Maintain exterior grounds, including sidewalks, entryways, and parking areas
- Assist with apartment “make-ready” tasks such as cleaning units, removing debris, and preparing apartments for new residents when needed
- Support maintenance staff with basic labor tasks (moving appliances, light repairs, changing light bulbs, etc.)
- Monitor building for cleanliness and safety hazards; report issues to management
- Respond to work orders and requests in a timely manner
- Assist with snow removal, salting, or weather-related cleanup (if applicable)
- Help maintain proper organization of storage, maintenance, and trash areas
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous porter, janitorial, or labor experience is a plus but not required
- Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting 50 lbs, standing, walking for long periods)
- Comfortable working in a high-rise environment (elevators, multiple floors, tight schedules)
- Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and safety procedures
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- $18-20/hour (based on experience)
