Senior OpenShift Platform Engineer
100% Remote
6 Month CTH or Long-Term Contract
**Unable to do C2C or Provide Sponsorship**
As the Senior OpenShift Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for owning, operating, and hardening Red Hat OpenShift platforms in a large-scale, enterprise environment. This role sits within a centralized Infrastructure Operations team, not an application or product team, and focuses on platform reliability, resiliency, and operational health.
You will take an existing early-stage / MVP OpenShift deployment and evolve it into a stable, production-ready platform, primarily in an on-prem environment. This role is infrastructure-first and requires a senior engineer capable of working independently, owning problems end to end, and collaborating across multiple infrastructure domains.
If you have deep, hands-on OpenShift platform experience and a strong infrastructure background, keep reading and apply.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong hands-on experience operating and supporting Red Hat OpenShift (platform ownership, not just deploying applications)
- Background in infrastructure or platform operations (Linux systems, servers, networking, virtualization)
- Experience supporting on-prem enterprise environments
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and own complex platform issues end to end
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and hardening production platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience making platforms production-ready, including:
- Backup and restore
- Resiliency and disaster recovery
- Routing, storage, and infrastructure integrations
- Experience collaborating across infrastructure teams (VMware, network, storage, cloud VM teams)
- Exposure to Terraform and/or Ansible (nice to have, not required)
- Some cloud experience (helpful, but not required)
Responsibilities:
- Own the day-to-day operation, reliability, and health of OpenShift environments
- Harden existing OpenShift clusters for enterprise production use
- Design, validate, and implement:
- Backup and restore processes
- Resiliency and multi-site approaches
- Disaster recovery concepts aligned to OpenShift architecture
- Manage foundational platform integrations, including:
- Networking and routing
- Storage
- Secrets management and security capabilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform-level issues across infrastructure layers
- Partner closely with VMware, network, storage, and other infrastructure teams
- Maintain existing environments while enabling future, more advanced OpenShift deployments
- Develop and maintain platform documentation, operational standards, and best practices
What This Role Is Not:
- Not an application-focused Kubernetes role
- Not a DevOps or CI/CD pipeline-heavy position
- Not a cloud-only role
- Not a junior or mid-level role requiring heavy mentoring
BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH BROOKSOURCE:
- Direct communication with the hiring manager, which allows us to move candidates through the interview process faster.
- Dedication to keep an open line of communication and provide full transparency.
