What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information Technology Generalist position at Brooksource?
Job Titel: IT Generalist / Project Manager
Location: Saint Peter, MN
Employment Type: Full-Time
On‑Site Environment (Small Company Setting)
The IT Generalist will serve as a hands‑on technical resource responsible for troubleshooting issues, coordinating support activities, and managing day‑to‑day systems and technology vendors. This role requires strong project management instincts, excellent communication, and the ability to operate effectively in a small, fast‑moving company where playbooks are still being written. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, highly organized, and eager to take ownership from start to finish.
ERP exposure—particularly with Deacom—is a major plus, as the organization has recently completed its go‑live and is entering a critical post‑implementation support phase. This position is well‑suited for early‑career talent. A background in regulated industries such as pharma, food & beverage, agriculture, or manufacturing is beneficial.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and system issues; escalate to vendors or partners when necessary.
- Coordinate with external technology vendors to ensure timely issue resolution and system reliability.
- Manage and maintain core business systems, including user access, configuration updates, and routine upkeep.
- Support ongoing ERP functionality, contributing to post‑go‑live stabilization and continuous improvement (Deacom experience a plus).
- Lead small to medium‑sized IT projects—organizing tasks, tracking progress, communicating updates, and driving work to completion.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, leadership, and end‑users to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Document processes, troubleshoot steps, system changes, and best practices to support long‑term operational knowledge.
- Operate with a flexible, small‑company mindset—identifying gaps, proposing solutions, and building processes where none exist.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 0–3 years of IT support, systems administration, IT coordination, or related technical experience.
- Strong project management instincts—organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of executing work from initiation through completion.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Deacom strongly preferred but not required).
- Ability to work independently with limited structure while maintaining strong communication and follow‑through.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn new systems, tools, and technologies quickly.
- Experience or exposure to regulated environments (pharma, food/bev, agriculture, manufacturing) is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or related field—early‑career graduates encouraged to apply.
