TARGETED START DATE: August 1st, 2026
JOB OVERVIEW
The Electrical Process Development Engineer III (E3) serves as a technical leader in the development, validation, and optimization of electrical test processes for medical device products. This individual will drive test strategy, architecture, and scalability, leveraging deep expertise in electrical engineering and software development to design robust, automated solutions across manufacturing and R&D environments.
Operating within a regulated ISO environment, this role partners closely with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and leadership to ensure compliant, efficient, and high-performing test systems. The E3 engineer is expected to operate with a high level of independence, acting as a subject matter expert and technical authority while mentoring junior engineers and influencing cross-functional decision-making.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will remain actively engaged in lab and production environments, utilizing benchtop tools, test equipment, and physical hardware to guide development, troubleshoot complex issues, and validate advanced systems.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
This role offers a unique opportunity to deepen your expertise in LabVIEW, one of the most in-demand software skills in the Twin Cities for test and automation engineering, while leading the development of advanced, scalable test systems. You will continue to build on and refine your LabVIEW capabilities while working on complex, high-impact engineering challenges, alongside expanding your proficiency in Python and C. In addition, you will take on greater ownership and technical leadership within a regulated medical device environment, positioning yourself as a key contributor to system-level design and long-term engineering strategy.

- Experience working in a regulated environment (ISO or medical device strongly preferred)
- Proven experience designing scalable test architectures and automated systems
- Strong experience with programming languages such as Python, or C
- Deep understanding of test validation, measurement system analysis (MSA), and correlation methodologies
- Experience with hardware development, test fixtures, and benchtop lab equipment
- Comfortable working in a hands-on lab environment, building, testing, and troubleshooting physical systems
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and provide technical leadership
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interface with leadership and cross-functional teams
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead electrical test strategy and define scalable, automated test architectures across products and programs
- Design and guide development of advanced automated test systems, with strong emphasis on LabVIEW-based solutions (reminder that LabVIEW training will go into the first portion of the role)
- Review and approve test methods, validation approaches, and technical documentation
- Resolve complex test, yield, and correlation issues, driving root cause analysis across hardware and software systems
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and team members
- Collaborate with leadership, R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing to align on test strategy and execution
- Support audits, regulatory inspections, and design transfer activities, ensuring compliance with all standards
