Electrical Drafter
Houston, TX (fully onsite)
1 year contract to hire/permanent
Position Summary:
As a Drafter, you will use CAD and drafting software to transform engineering mark-ups, sketches, and design concepts into detailed design drawings and deliverables for transmission line projects. You will support engineers and designers through the full project lifecycle, from planning and permitting through fabrication and construction documentation, with a focus on accuracy, adherence to standards, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and revise engineering drawings for transmission line projects.
- Apply company and client drafting standards, ensuring compliance with codes, design criteria, and constructability requirements.
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, and other disciplines to incorporate design updates and manage drawing revisions.
- Identify and communicate design conflicts or constructability concerns.
- Manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adhere to CAD quality processes and internal workflows.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate degree, diploma, or certificate in drafting or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of drafting experience, preferably in transmission line or utility infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with MicroStation is a nice to have.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in transmission line drafting, plan & profile layouts.
- Knowledge of transmission line construction methods, hardware components (towers, poles, conductors, insulators) and associated deliverables.
- Self-starter mentality, strong teamwork ethic and willingness to learn and advance drafting skills into design support roles.
