Distribution Engineer
Location: Tuscaloosa/Northport, AL

About the Role
Brooksource is seeking a Distribution Engineer to support the design, development, and optimization of electrical power distribution systems. This role is open to both entry-level engineers and experienced professionals with 5–10 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a focus on safety and quality, and an interest in improving the reliability and efficiency of electrical distribution networks.
Candidates must currently live in the Tuscaloosa/Northport area or be willing to relocate. No per diem is provided.
What You’ll Do
- Design and plan electrical power distribution systems, including power lines and related infrastructure.
- Analyze distribution networks to improve reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Perform technical calculations, including load flow, fault analysis, and voltage drop calculations.
- Manage engineering projects from planning and design through implementation and maintenance.
- Ensure designs meet applicable safety standards, regulations, and environmental requirements.
- Identify opportunities for system upgrades and improvements while maintaining accurate engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers, field technicians, and project managers to ensure quality and project success.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and engineering design principles.
- Experience with distribution system design software is a plus.
- Understanding of industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
- Project planning and management experience is a plus, particularly for experienced candidates.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Current residence in the Tuscaloosa/Northport area or willingness to relocate.
