Senior Technical Writer – AI Knowledge Management
📍 Location: Farmington Hills / Metro Detroit, MI (Hybrid)
📅 Duration: 6-Month Contract
We're looking for an experienced Senior Technical Writer to join an innovative engineering team focused on AI-driven solutions. In this role, you'll create and organize technical documentation that supports AI agents and engineering teams by developing structured knowledge, technical standards, runbooks, glossaries, and reference content.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, technical manuals, and engineering standards.
- Develop taxonomy, structured knowledge, and documentation architecture.
- Collaborate with developers and engineers to capture technical processes and decisions.
- Organize documentation for discoverability using metadata, cross-linking, and controlled vocabulary.
- Maintain documentation quality, consistency, and governance.
- Work with Markdown-based documentation and version-controlled repositories.
Required Skills
- 5–7 years of Technical Writing experience
- 3–4 years of Document Control experience
- Experience authoring technical documentation and manuals
- Taxonomy development and information architecture
- Technical manuals and engineering documentation
- Controlled vocabulary/glossary management
- Experience working with developers and engineering teams
- Strong documentation organization and knowledge management skills
