Position: Physical Education Teacher
Location: Brookside Elementary School
Schedule: 2026-2027 School Year
Salary: Per Teacher's Contract
To Start: August 24, 2026 (plus two mentoring days prior to start date)
Qualifications:
●MA DESE Teacher License: Physical Education (PreK-8) required;
●MA DESE Teacher License: Health (All) preferred;
●Strong understanding of National Physical Education Standards and the Massachusetts Health Frameworks;
●Strong understanding of motivation theories, and an expert at engaging all students in the physical education curriculum;
●A passion for teaching elementary school students and helping them to achieve their fullest potential;
●Ability to think, work and teach interdisciplinary content;
●Exceptional content and pedagogy knowledge with the ability to make meaningful transfer connections across content areas;
●Strong understanding of curriculum development and lesson planning;
Requirements:
●Enthusiastic and student centered; committed to educating all students to high standards;
●Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, and fundamentals of body movement;
●Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student;
●Provide appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on all physical education equipment, instructional areas, and field areas to insure the overall safety of students;
●Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property;
●Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas;
●Assesses and evaluates each pupil’s growth in physical skills, content knowledge, and class contribution;
●Communicates with parents, teachers, and school counselors on student progress;
●Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities;
●Eagerness to communicate and develop positive bonds with parents;
●Perform assigned tasks and duties designated by the building principal.
