Position Summary
The Helping Hands Aide plays a vital role in creating a clean, comfortable, and caring environment for our residents. This position works alongside the CNA and care team to support residents’ daily needs while promoting dignity, privacy, safety, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
Assist CNAs in preparing residents and resident rooms for meals and fluids.
Pass meal trays and complete meal-serving setup.
Provide fresh ice water each shift and more often as requested.
Change linens and make beds on assigned shower days or as directed by the Charge Nurse or resident.
Clean and properly store resident equipment according to facility policy while respecting personal belongings.
Maintain a clean, orderly resident environment.
Clean and package personal-care items as needed.
Respond promptly to call lights, determine residents’ needs, and report direct-care needs STAT to the Charge Nurse.
Assist with meal-tray removal and accurately record meal percentages. Report any resident consuming less than 50% of a meal in writing to the Charge Nurse.
Clean overbed and dining tables after meals according to facility cleaning procedures.
Attend required in-service training.
Protect resident privacy and confidentiality.
Promote residents’ rights and immediately report suspected abuse, mistreatment, or neglect to appropriate supervisors.
Assist with resident transportation as supervised or instructed.
Maintain a calm, professional, low-volume voice throughout the facility.
Maintain strict confidentiality and direct questions regarding residents to the Charge Nurse.
Learn each resident’s individual personality and preferences to build rapport and enhance daily interactions and quality of life.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain resident confidentiality.
Previous healthcare or long-term-care experience is a plus, but not required.
