Working hours:
Regular weekly schedule will be 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Monday thru Friday. Sometimes these hours may vary to accommodate clinic duties.

This role requires the ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods, as well as frequent communication via phone and in person, occasional walking between work areas, and travel between office locations as needed.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities – Surgery Counselor
- Educates patients on surgical procedures and intraocular lens (IOL) options as recommended by the ophthalmologist, ensuring patient understanding and informed decision‑making.
- Provides accurate financial estimates and explains insurance benefits, coverage limitations, and out‑of‑pocket costs associated with surgery.
- Schedules and coordinates pre‑operative appointments, surgical procedures, and post‑operative visits, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and continuity of care.
- Reviews and discusses pre‑operative and post‑operative care instructions with patients to promote safe and successful surgical outcomes.
- Explains surgical consents thoroughly and ensures all required consent forms are completed and signed before surgery.
- Follows up on required medical clearances and pre‑operative testing to ensure patients are cleared and prepared for surgery.
- Answers patient questions and responds to incoming phone calls in a timely, professional, and compassionate manner.
- Communicates and shares surgery orders, histories & physicals (H&Ps), and required documentation with the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) to ensure surgical readiness.
- Works collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff to meet or exceed established capture rate and conversion rate goals.
- Actively manages patient recalls and follow‑up outreach to increase surgical capture rates.
- Maintains accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) in compliance with practice policies.
- Performs additional duties as assigned to support practice operations and patient care.
- Travel to the Las Colinas location as needed.
- This is an in-office position; remote work is not available.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a medical setting, ophthalmic experience preferred
- Sales experience preferred
