Job Summary
This seasonal position provides support to our concrete crews working on heavy highway, civil, and horizontal construction projects. The role requires a foundational understanding of civil construction, a strong work ethic, adaptability, and a proactive, team-focused approach.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist in setting string line to proper elevation and grade
- Handle and set metal, wood, and wall forms
- Place and level concrete using shovels, rakes, screed boards, and cumalongs
- Finish concrete using various tools: hand float, edger, jointer, bull float, broom, slick trowel
- Install ADA panels and other surface treatments
- Operate concrete finishing equipment: vibra screeds, truss screeds, roller screeds, power trowels, walk-behind and soft cut saws
- Assist with curb machine work and related forming/finishing tasks
- Operate small tools and equipment: cordless drills, circular saws, quickie saws, hammer drills, sledgehammers
- Maintain worksite cleanliness and assist with general labor duties
- Perform traffic control (flagging), as needed
- Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE
- Assist others in department as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Willingness to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and overtime with little notice
- Reliable transportation with the ability to travel within a 90-mile radius from home office
- Compliance with company Drug-Free & Alcohol-Free Workplace policies
- Strong attendance, dependability, and punctuality
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold, dust, mud)
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Quick learner with a proactive work ethic and attention to safety
- Physically able to perform the functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in concrete construction
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Experience with curb and flatwork preferred
- Lifting/Carrying: Up to 50 lbs. frequently
- Pushing/Pulling: Up to 50 lbs. frequently
- Movement: Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, and lifting
- Use of Hands: Frequent use for handling tools and equipment
- 100% field-based role on active construction job sites
- Interaction with team members such as Foremen, Superintendents, Laborers, and Equipment Operators
- Projects located across northern Indiana and northeastern Ohio
- Must be able to work in varied weather and environmental conditions
