What are the responsibilities and job description for the Panel Builder position at Brooks Building Solutions?
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Panel Builder / Control Panel Technician to assemble and wire electrical control panels in a production shop environment. This role supports our Building Automation department, but candidates with control panel experience from any industry are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building and wiring electrical control panels and is comfortable working from electrical schematics and layout drawings. Responsibilities include panel assembly and wiring, testing and basic troubleshooting, and maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and documentation. Experience with industrial or commercial control systems is a plus, but not required.
Key Responsibilities:

Build and wire control panels from layout drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and work instructions.

Mechanically assemble components onto backplates and install completed panels into enclosures.

Route, bundle, and dress wiring neatly through wireway or as harnessed bundles.

Terminate conductors to terminal blocks, relays, controllers, power supplies, breakers, drives, and other panel components.

Perform testing per procedures and work instructions; troubleshoot and correct issues to meet QA/QC requirements.

Complete required assembly, wiring, and testing documentation accurately.

Maintain tools, drawings, and records in an organized and controlled manner.

Participate in training as new products and processes are introduced.

Perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent.

2 years of experience building and/or wiring industrial control panels (preferred).

Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.

Solid mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand tools and small power tools.

Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Demonstrated ability to be highly organized, maintain accurate documentation, and manage controlled drawings and tools.

Experience supporting audits/inspections and maintaining document control (drawings, revisions, logs).

Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to neat workmanship and safety.

Reliable, self-motivated, and accountable for meeting production and quality expectations.

Coachable, able to take direction and constructive feedback, and motivated to continuously improve.

Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Forklift experience (a plus).
Physical Requirements

Ability to repeatedly lift and move materials and assemblies weighing up to 70 lbs.
