Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with a passion for numbers and process improvement? We’re seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team and support accurate payroll processing, general ledger reconciliations, and core accounting functions that drive our mission forward.
✨ What You’ll Do
Payroll Administration
- Process biweekly payroll accurately and on time for all employees.
- Collect, calculate, and input payroll data with precision.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Maintain the payroll system—troubleshoot issues, oversee upgrades, and protect data integrity.
- Coordinate with HR and department managers on new hires, terminations, raises, benefits, and deductions.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Reconcile benefits and manage payroll allocations.
- Oversee time & effort certifications every pay period.
Accounting & Finance
- Post payroll-related journal entries and reconcile payroll to the general ledger.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and post cash receipts.
- Review petty cash reimbursements and verify proper documentation.
- Assist with audits by preparing documentation and financial schedules.
- Distribute MetroCard’s and gift cards tied to program activities.
🧠 What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of payroll and accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, compliance, and reporting.
- Experience with payroll and accounting systems (Paycom, ADP, or similar).
- Proficiency in Excel with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when needed.
