Overview

The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department to ensure the efficient execution of daily HR functions. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who can maintain confidentiality, manage multiple priorities, and provide exceptional customer service to employees and applicants.

The Human Resources Assistant plays a vital role in supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, compliance, payroll administration, benefits coordination, and other human resources initiatives that contribute to an efficient and compliant workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment activities, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and communicating with applicants.
  • Prepare offer letters, onboarding documents, and new hire packets.
  • Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including background checks, employment verifications, reference checks, drug screenings, and required clearances.
  • Complete new hire onboarding and ensure all required employment documentation is accurately collected and maintained.
  • Maintain confidential employee personnel files, both electronic and physical.
  • Maintain organized records, files, and documentation systems (electronic and physical)
  • Assist with Form I-9 completion and employment eligibility verification while ensuring compliance with federal regulations.
  • Process employee status changes, including new hires, promotions, transfers, and separations.
  • Assist with payroll processing by maintaining employee records, collecting payroll documentation, and responding to routine payroll inquiries.
  • Support employee benefits administration, including enrollment, qualifying life events, and employee questions.
  • Monitor employee certifications, licenses, trainings, and required compliance documentation.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment-related matters.
  • Prepare HR reports, correspondence, and other administrative documents.
  • Maintain HR filing systems and assist with audits to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws.
  • Support employee engagement activities, orientations, training sessions, and other HR initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Knowledge of human resources principles, employment laws, and HR best practices.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of Human Resources or administrative experience preferred, with experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, payroll, employee records, or HR operations. Experience with HRIS and payroll systems is preferred.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
