What are the responsibilities and job description for the CT Scan Technologist position at Brooklyn Hospital Center?
The CT Scan Technologist is responsible for performing all routine Computed Tomography procedures/ examinations as specified in Departmental protocols, as well as Quality Assurance and Interventional C.T. scan procedures/ examinations.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an AMA approved program for Radiologic Technology.
- Minimum of two (2) years as Staff CT Scan Technologist, hospital based – Preferred
- Current New York State Licensed in Radiologic Technology
- Current Certification in Radiologic Technology (RT) Computed Tomography (CT) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
- Knowledge of proper procedure(s) for storage, handling, dispensing and application(s) of intravenous contrast media and oral contrast media (barium sulfate, Gastroview, EZ gas etc.).
- Knowledge of sterile technique for the proper set-up of Interventional/ Biopsy/ drainage trays.
- Knowledge and proficiency of handling sterile equipment and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Knowledge of the proper disposal of equipment and blood products.
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Radiology Information System (R.I.S.). (Basic operation, scheduling, arriving, ordering, completing, etc. exams).
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Radiology P.A.C.S. system (basic operation, image manipulation, scanning of documents, matching of patient medical record numbers, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use (and troubleshooting) of the Tele-Radiology System.
- Time Management Skills.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
