Position Title: Attendant Guard
Department: Security
Reports to: Senior Manager of Security & Custodial Services
FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-exempt

Position Description:
Under supervision, the attendant guard assumes post, attends, guards, and patrols assigned areas in Brooklyn Botanic Garden and performs related work.
Responsibilities:
Attend, guard, and patrol assigned areas in the Garden and on its immediate perimeter.
Protect displays and display areas from loss or damage due to theft or vandalism and protect the Garden’s buildings, equipment, facilities, and grounds in the area of assignment.
Meet the public, school classes, and teachers attending Garden instruction programs and advise on location of displays, display areas, buildings, and exhibits.
Maintain order in assigned area and perform all lawful duties of a security guard as directed by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.
Operate a security vehicle as required.
Perform fire safety duties as directed.
Perform other related duties or special projects as directed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED, or two years of satisfactory, paid experience in custodial, protection, attendance, or related work, including responsibility for meeting, advising, and directing the public
Ability to pass written exam
Valid driver’s license preferred
Valid NYS security license
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range – $41,600 - $42,071

These factors include (but are not limited to), the scope and responsibilities of the position, a candidate’s relevant work experience and education/training, prior union/ DC37 experience (for union positions), job skills, equity across the institution, as well as market and organizational considerations.
