Position Title: Continuing Education Assistant Instructor
Department: Education
Reports to: Director of Continuing Education
FLSA Status: Part-time Seasonal, Non-exempt
Compensation: Prep. Rate: $25/hour & Teaching Rate: $40/hour
Position Description:
We are accepting applications on a rolling basis. Continuing Education horticulture instructors teach a variety of horticulture classes for professional development programs such as Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Certificate in Horticulture. The successful candidate will be a collaborative self-starter with strong communication skills. They will have advanced knowledge in their subject area.
Responsibilities:
Assist lead instructor with scheduled classes, including lecture and facilitating class discussions and activities.
Assist with grading assignments.
Prepare lab materials and assist students with lab activities.
Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge in your subject area, either through professional or academic experience
Fluent use of technology, including PowerPoint and Zoom
Cultural competency and ability to work with diverse audiences
Strong communication and organizational skills
