Key Responsibilities
- Support teachers in delivering high-quality instruction to individuals and small groups of students
- Reinforce lessons by reviewing material and helping students stay engaged and on task
- Assist with classroom setup and maintain a clean, welcoming, and well-organized learning environment
- Maintain a beautiful, organized classroom that showcases student learning, including regularly updated bulletin boards and displays
- Support student learning during reading, writing, and math activities, including conferencing and skill-building
- Use positive behavior management techniques to support a strong classroom culture
- Observe and communicate student academic and social-emotional progress to the teacher
- Assist with grading, anecdotal note-taking, and data entry (including PowerSchool)
- Support instructional activities, projects, and small group work as directed by the teacher
- Step in to support classroom instruction in the teacher’s absence, as needed
- Support arrival, dismissal, lunch, and transitions to ensure a safe and orderly environment
- Promote positive habits and maintain a structured, respectful environment in shared spaces (e.g., cafeteria, hallways)
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
- Adhere to school schedules, systems, and expectations

- Professional maturity, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with students, staff, and families
- A reliable, detail-oriented team player who takes initiative and contributes to a smooth, well-run classroom and school

- A passion for the arts and belief in creativity as a driver of student engagement and success
- High school diploma required; some college credits required
- New York State Teaching Assistant Certification (Level I, II, or III) required
- Prior experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus
- Clearance for fingerprinting and criminal background check required
$45,000 annually
